Today's workout was wonderful. I started with some weight training (upper body and back). It was the first time in a very long time that I did this, and man did it feel good to be back at it. I finished my workout with a great forty-five minute go on the arc trainer (intervals) - and I was totally that sweaty person! HA! As I write this I'm sure my arms will be sore for the next day or so, but they can deal with it! I'm working towards a goal...that being to treat my body like the temple that it is.
Respecting myself in this way is hard to do (and I don't want this to be confused with self respect). It's more to do with the fact that I tend to be a workaholic. In the past year or so I have come to the realization that I need to spend just as much time taking care of myself (mentally and physically) as I do caring about my job. Today that meant actually leaving my classroom in a prompt fashion. This is hard for me because there is ALWAYS something else that needs to be done...but I need to also take care of myself. This 100 Day Challenge is helping me do just that!
The best part of today, however, was not my workout or my success in my new goals. It was the arrival of these puppies...
...my NEW running sneakers! I'm a Brooks girl, so these are Adrenaline GTS 12's. I'm in love with them! And they came with hot pink laces. Woohoo! Can't wait to start breaking them in for tomorrow! But the best part of the whole new shoe thing was realizing how desperately I needed new running sneakers. When I slipped them on I almost gasped at how wonderful they felt. I will be taking them for their first spin tomorrow afternoon.
Finally, I'd like to leave you with a challenge. I've decided in my push to better my body that I'm going to participate in a 200 Squat Challenge (this is an addition to my usual regimen). I will be taking the initial test this weekend and beginning this challenge next week. If you are interested you can read about it here. I also downloaded the companion app for my iphone. It's pretty great as it will keep track of which workout I am on and my progress. Who wants to squat with me?
So cheers to wonderful workouts, new running sneakers, and squats! Three workouts down, ninety-seven more to go!
